CDF Data Links

CDF Data Links

These links provide further data and information on the Coastal Douglas-fir Biogeoclimatic Zone.

Geographic Information System (GIS) Data

To use this data, you will need Geographic Information System (GIS) software, such ArcGIS or Quantum GIS.  Quantum GIS is open source software, and can be freely downloaded from the project's website.  ArcGIS Explorer can be used to view data layers, and is provided by ESRI, the makers of ArcGIS, at no cost.

CDFmm Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) Data:

This is a GeoBC ftp site providing geodatabase of CDFmm TEM ( Does not include the Fraser Lowlands portion of the CDFmm zone nor the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve and surrounding Gulf Islands. The TEM data available on this link has gone through additional quality assurance and has been linked to geometry, and is therefore preferable to use over the TEM data available in Ecocat. Accompanying report is available through Ecocat (see below).

TEM for the Howe Sound islands is available through the Islands Trust by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Related maps are available at
